Barracuda Report: Palin Abused Her Power and Lied

The Republican legislature in Alaska has released its investigator's report on Sarah Palin's actions in trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired and can be read in its entirety here. In short, the investigation concludes that Governor Barracuda acted unethically in abusing her power, and that she lied about being afraid of the ex-brother-in-law. Specifically with the claims of fear, the report states:
"I conclude that such claims of fear were not bona fide and were offered to provide cover for the Palins' real motivation: to get Trooper Wooten fired for personal family related reasons."

Obviously, the wingnuts who have been showing up at McCain/Palin rallies and yelling "shoot him" at the mention of Obama's name are not going to be deterred from continuing to support Palin over some little technicality like abuse of power, unethical behavior and lying. I doubt, however, that the release of this report is going to convince many undecided or Obama-leaning voters that they should now support McCain/Palin.

It is amazing how the wheels have come off of the McCain campaign over the last two weeks; caused not only by the economic news but by McCain's own impulsive mis-judgment. It has gotten so bad that reliable conservatives like Chris Buckley, son of Mr. Conservative, William F. Buckley, and still a columnist for the Buckley magazine, The National Review has announced that for the first time in his life, he's voting for a Democrat. This by a former McCain supporter, by the way.

On September 9, I wrote in a blog post "Slowly, slowly, the Palin balloon will deflate as the vetting McCain did not do before his impulsive selection gets done by the press. Don't panic Obama supporters." I'm not always right, but this time I was.

It's not over until all the votes are counted. But it is certainly looking good if you are an Obama supporter.

At least 20 right now (even CNN's poll of polls had it at 11 last night); 30-40 election day. The McCaniacs are in the process of imploding. It's going to be beautious.

Greetings from an old commenter.

I still am not over Ms. Palin's book-banning efforts. The rest of her evil ways are just what I expect from virtually all politicians. That doesn't make it okay, it's just the way they are: petty; vindictive; dishonest; self-centered.

When George Will is saying it will be a landslide for Obama, I know better than to count my chickens. There's the Bradley Effect to consider: people tell pollsters they will vote for the black candidate and then not. And there is still no underestimating the vast racism permeating our culture. I so hope I am wrong and you are right. But save your gloating for later. Or don't even gloat at all. I'm trying to come up with ways to let the Republican masses and my Republican friends save some face and bring them into the fold of a new world.

YES!!! please keep telling me this. Can you just send this to the NY Times and CNN and anywhere else that you think might listen.

but there is still a little part of me that just can't belive that a black man can win and thinks that if he was white we would be talking about a landslide

I do have a bottle of champagne on ice - i just can't wait for the celebration party!!!

Easy, on one thing we're agreed upon; Bill Clinton was a great president, one of the greatest in the modern era. The disappointment about Bill Clinton was that he could have been even greater if he had more self-discipline. We're always going to disagree about Hilary. I think she tried to get by on Bill's coat tails. As you know, I'm bitter about how she messed up health care, and the way she ran her campaign reaffirmed what I had believed since I first heard her speak in 1992 about her political instincts. But I'm glad that she and Bill have more or less gotten behind Obama. Debra and rdl, don't get too exuburant just yet. McCain keeps flailing, but the Republicans could pull an October surprise -- who knows what. Keep working until election day.

Reporting in from North Carolina. We believe that we can pull it off for Obama! It's close and NC hasn't selected a Democrat for President in 30 years BUT things are looking good at this point.

If North Carolina goes to the Democratic ticket, it will be a landslide for Obama/Biden and there's a good chance we'll get rid of Elizabeth Dole who rarely comes into the state.

According to Chris Hedges, it's the end of the world regardless of who gets elected.

Hey Crockhead,
I think you once got steamed about a dearly beloved Amish cousin who did some private "unbilled" work for a government purchasing agent who had given him a juicy contract. Did straight-shootin' Sarah get a free house built from the contractors who built her town's multi-million dollar sports complex?

Heh. I was a doubter back in early Sept when the shine was blinding, Amishlaw, but I'm glad that thus far you're proving correct - she's more liability than help.

Here's hoping those polls just keep getting better, and that election day proves them right!
