How Far She Has Come

Way back in 1985 or so, little Allison Krause, then 14, beat my 8-year-old son, Jeremy, in a fiddling contest at the Champaign County Fair. With that as her springboard, has come all kinds of success -- more Grammys than any other artist of her genre; gigs playing with Yo-Yo Ma and other celebrity musicians. If Jeremy had just practiced a little more.

(A hat tip to my friend, Catch Her in the Wry, for the link.)

You're very welcome. I remember hearing her play has a young teen and I was blown away. Then later discovering that she had the voice of angels, I was blown away again.

I love Allison Krause, both as a fiddle player and a singer. Is it "On Heaven's Bright Shore" I'm hearing in my head right now? If your son could play the fiddle well enough at age 8 to even enter a contest, well, that's really something.
