Obed Report: Grandson Number One is Here!

Not all newborn babies are cute. I'm so glad that we were lucky enough to get a cute one. Obed arrived yesterday morning at 12:49 a.m., missing by 50 minutes our hope that he would be born on 10-20-2010. He is a biggie -- 9 pounds, 6 ounces and 21 inches long. He was about three weeks overdue, which I think accounts for his size and alertness. He looks like he is well aware of what is going on and is taking it all in.

Congrats! Big babies are always cuter. The challenge is raising them not to be big babies in adulthood. The cuteness wears off by then. ;D

It's too bad you weren't in NY long enough for the birth, but thank goodness for the Internet, digital pictures, and Skype!

Oh, my, how cute is that! He looks so wise and knowing. I love those caps. Congratulations to all.

Well, Catch, I think his cuteness is in his genes, not in his pounds. I just hope the bigness is not in his genes, but I think not. He is only 2 ounces heavier than his father was at birth and his father has been very thin since he was about four or five years old.

Thanks, forsythia.

Actually I meant big baby, i.e.whiner, but that won't be any problem either. : )

Congratulations to you and your frau. And of course to the new Mama and Papa. Obed of course will be the first U.S. President of Amish descent. Who also wins the Nobel. But only after a MacArthur.
