Land of Enchantment

This was the view from our hotel room this morning about 7:00 a.m. I have always loved the Southwest. I had forgotten how blue the sky is out here. I even love the cacti.
This is a view of the front of our hosts' house. I suppose it's the novelty factor. Our hostess longs for trees and grass, and can't wait to get back to the Northwest where it is cloudy all day. I guess the grass is always greener somewhere else -- literally if you're in New Mexico, although it is amazing how much people out here use irrigation to try to recreate the grass lawns of less arid locations.

Beautiful pictures. I'm assuming you are visiting Donna & Earl. Are Milt and Marv there too? If so I'm sure all of you are enjoying your time together. Thank you for sharing.

Sometime back I read about the 'golf course' lawn phenomenon you refer to.
It seems that retirees to that area want to take their water sucking lawns with them to the arid desert. What's up with that?

You're right, Linda. Milt, Mary, Marv and Carlene were there too. We had a great time. I'll try to tell more and post more pix.

Mary, I'm enjoying following your link back to your blogs and looking at your paintings. I like them. I don't know what it is with people who live in the desert and want to make it look like the Midwest. I think they need to be a little more Buddhist and just "let it go" with respect to greenery. Thanks for visiting

I spent a large part of my childhood in Albuqerque and I longed for the green fields and forests of the Midwest. I can appreciate New Mexico now, though I still prefer being in the "Three I League" states. But I remember one longtime New Mexican saying that the state needed a little less land and a lot more enchantment.
